IQ BIO REUnion @ SACNAS 2022

2021 IQ Hackathon WINNERS

On Friday June 25 and Saturday June 26 we hosted our annual IQ Hackathon. This is a great opportunity for students to ideate and develop innovative solutions to research questions that have a broader societal impact. We also had a blast eating pizza together and showcasing our pets, even if we were thousands of miles away. We want to thank the great people of Seriously Creative for their seamless support of the event.

Here are the winning projects for the 2021 IQ Hackathon. Congratulations to all of the participants who all did an incredible job.

First Place: Jean Express – Intuitive visualization of RNA Seq Data. Team members – Ashmika Behere, Thomas Atkins, Stanton Li and Miguel Hernández Betancourt.
Second Place (Tie): Cannaducation – Destymatizing Cannabis use through data visualizations. Team Members: Jorlane de Jesús, Damian J. Santiago Sosa, Diego Pomales and Diego Rosado (not shown).
Second Place (Tie): Emformatics – Bioinformatics for Personalized Medicine. Team members; Havilland Clark, Tyanna Melendez, Emily Smith, Emilia Driscoll and Carlos Morales.

2021 IQ HACKATHON – JUNE 25–26


IQ BIO REU Season 3 is in full swing. Please join us on June 25–26 to meet our amazing students, learn more about their projects and help them take their projects to the next level. Participants will collaborate with individuals from different disciplines and backgrounds to seek innovative solutions to their research questions. We look forward to the participation of programmers, computer scientists, designers, startup owners, and creatives who are interested in exploring the intersection of life sciences and computer science. In the past years we have been doing these events and the results have been incredible. We invite you to hack with us. 

No prior knowledge is required, just a desire to learn and explore.
